ASS'T PASTOR FOR M.E. CHURCH

Gen. Secretary for the Wesleyan Guild to Be One

ENDOWMENT IS CERTAIN

Men who will Donate the $50,000 have been Discovered

The Wesleyan Guild is very likely to receive its much wished for endowment before the conference year is completed.

The Methodist Church is undertaking the task of raising a Twentieth Century Fund amounting to twenty million dollars.

Michigan 's share of this immense amount is $750,000.

Among the items of specific funds which will be included in this $750,000 is one for $150,000 for the Wesleyan Guild in this city. Any donations to the Wesleyan Guild Fund will be credited as so much of the Michigan State Fund, and naturally will be a part of the gigantic Twentieth Century Fund.

Of the $150,000 there will be $50,000 set aside for a building, an endowment of $50,000 to pay the expenses of a General Secretary, and an endowment of $50,000 for the care and custody of the building.

The interest on $50,000 at 4 per cent. would be $2,000, which would be an ample salary to secure the services of a first-class man. It is now the intention to make the Secretary an Assistant Pastor of the M. E. Church.

Said one of the board of directors of the Guild to the Argus today: " We have our eyes on men who, I think, will be ready to donate this $150,000 before the year is up. We have obtained certain promises from them which I know they will fulfill. Who are these men? Oh, I am not ready to tell that yet. It will all come out very shortly. But I know the fund of $50,000 for the endowment of a General Secretaryship is certain."
