ONLY ONE WAS SENT TO JAIL

Various county supervisors have charged that Ann Arbor ran all its drunks into the jail to be paid for by the county. Here is an answer. In October, Marshal Gerstner reports 11 arrests - 6 drunks, 2 violating city ordinances, 2 trespass and 1 for using insulting language in the presence of witnesses. This latter one was sent to jail. The others all paid fines and costs, or costs only. The fines amounted to $13, and the city's share of the costs paid was $12.75.
