Alonzo H. Ranes, Henry E. Burgess and Harry A. Weaver, the law s enden ts, have íiled their answer to the sensational case started by Mary Ann Fields. Cavauaugh & Wedemeyer are their attorneys. They say that instead of the property in qnestion beiiig worth f rom $6,000 to $10,000, it is really only worth i 3, 000 and that the personal property was worth ouly $50 and that Mrs. Pields stripped the house of all wearing apparel and furniture immediately upon the death and before the remains of her sister, Sarah Prescott,were buried. Ranes avers that Mrs. Fields burned the will in which MissPrescott's property would be lef t to a church. In fact, Ranes denies that he was gnilty of auy fraud whatever, and asserts about the substance of what was given in the Argns interview af ter ;he case was started.
