NOT DEAD BUT SLEEPING

Electric Line from Ann Arbor to Lansing.

WIND WILL NOT BUILD

Hard Cash is Needed and the Present Board of Directors Do not Have It.

A meeting of the directors of the Lansing, Dexter and Ann Arbor electric railway was held in Lansing last week. Thomas Birkett, of Dexter, one of the directors, attended the meeting. The Argus called him up.by telephone today to find out what was to be done with the road.

It is evident, from the conversation with Mr. Birkett, that the road will not be built by the present board of directors. "It is cash that is needed," said Mr. Birkett, ''not wind."

The price of materials has gone so high and the money is lacking, 'No one," continued Mr. Birkett, ''can build a road these days on wind, excepting Jim. Ashley." Nevertheless Mr. Birkett is firm in the belief that an electric line from Lansing to Ann Arbor will be built by way of Dexter, although not this year.
