W. L. Miggett, superintendent of the engineering shops at the university, has just invented a school desk which for compactness and adjustment cannot be excelled by anything on the market.

The desk, of course, combines with it a seat for the scholar stationed in front. It is so arranged that the desk can be raised or lowered and the seat, which is attached thereto, can also be lowered or raised. This is so that a tall scholar and a short scholar, one sitting behind the other, can both be accommodated to their respective lengths. The back of the seat consists simply of a rest for the back of a person and it is connected with the seat by a strong curved rod. The back of the seat is arranged in two sections which adjust themselves to the conformity of the student's back.

The desks and seats can be manufactured at a small cost and are more than liable to be universally used.
