At the Methodist and Presbyterian Sunday schools a Christmas tree will afford the children their, anticipated enjoyment. The Baptists will simply hold exercises as it is too close to the unfortunate affair of last year to do anything else. The Congregationalists will give their scholars at New Year's supper instead of a Christmas tree.

At the jail Sheriff Gillen gave his 20 prisoners turkey, chicken, pumpkin pie, smoking and chewing tobacco and they seemed to have had as enjoyable a "holiday" as any family in the city.

The Unirersity Bible Class of the Methodist church remembered the patients at the Homeopathic hospital and gladdened them with flowers. At the University hospital many individuals brought in Christmas greetings and presents for the children patients.

The children's service was held in the Bethlehem Evangelical church Sunday evening at 6 o'clock. The front of the church was occupied by an immense Christmas tree decorated with pretty things from the floor to the very top. Precisely on the hour the happy children marched in and filled the body of the church. Every available seat was occupied by parents and friends. A pleasing program of both choruses and recitations were given by the scholars and members of the choir. At the close of the exercises the childrens' hearts were gladdened by presents. Preparations had been made for 550 children. A large number of the country members of the church were present to participate in the Christmas celebration.

The Christmas Eve services for the children held in Zion's Lutheran church Sunday evening were as usual well attended, the church being packed with Sunday school scholars, their parents, friends and younger brothers and sisters. The front of the church was filled by two handsome trees decorated with pretty thinsg. Between the trees was suspended a large transparency surmounted by a large star. A varied program consisting of appropriate recitations, solos and choir pieces were given. The Sunday school scholars of the number of 465 as also the still younger ones were remembered with presents.

The inmates of the county house were yesterday treated to a big Christmas dinner consisting of chickens with all the et ceteras. The usual work had been done up and the day was given up to visiting and social conversation.

The Unitarian Sunday school will hold Christmas exercises this afternoon.

At St. Andrew's church, the children had a Christmas tree at the regular children's Christmas services held Sunday afternoon. Rev. Mr. Tatlock made an appropriate address to the children. The tree, which was set up in Harris hall, was laden with presents for the Sunday school children, which the little ones seemed greatly to enjoy receiving.

The Christmas celebration for the Sunday school scholars of the German M. E. church was held last evening. There was a beautiful tree appropriately trimmed. A program of recitations, solos and choruses was rendered. The children each received a pasteboard box in the shape of the church filled with nuts and candy. The pastor, Rev. William Jauch, was surprised by the present of a $10 gold plece. The retiring organist, Miss Julia Stark, and the new organist, Miss Emma Esslinger, were also remembered..
