THEIR MARRIAGE A FAILURE
Divorce wanted by prominent Iowan - his wife objects.
Mason City, Ia., Dec. 28. - Much interest is centered in the sensational divorce case now on in the Mitchell county courts before Judge Clyde. The plaintiff is Colonel John H. Sweeney, prominent in military and political circles throughout the state. For four years he represented the Fourth district in congress. His first wife died and while serving the district in Washington he married a prominent society woman of that city.
The story of the trouble is a long one. In the proceedings "desertion" alone is the charge. For six years Sweeney and his wife have not lived together. Mrs. Sweeney is on the ground and is stubbornly fighting the case. Judge P. W. Burr, of Charles City, is the defendant's counsel, while W. L. Eaton appears for the plaintiff.
