D. Olipbant Church, of Detroit, is in the city. Hon. C. R. Miller, of Adrián, was in the city last Saturday. S. J. Holden, of the Farwell Register, was in the city Tuesday, attending the temperance convention. G. W. Halford, general agent of the Detroit Free Press, was in the city yesterday. E. II. Bowman is now the local correspondent in this city for the Post and Tri bune. Chas. T. Donnelly was admitted to the bar last Monday, being one of the senior law class. S. P. Andrews, the gentlcmanly bookseller of this city, is to start a branch store at Jackson. B. Frank Bower, of the Kvening News staff, made us a very pleatant cali last Wednesday. Lewis Werner, of the Washtenaw Post, left that office last Saturday, to go into business for hiniself. Mrs. Frank Otis, of Morgan City, La., is visiting her husband's tuother, Mrs. Isaac Dunn, of this city. Hon. Geo. F. Lewis, the genial editor of the Saginawian, of Saginaw City, was in the city last Wednesday. Hon. Geo. V. N. Lathrop. of Detroit, was in the city last Thursday, in attendance upon the circuit court. Cora A. Benneson and Maud A. Kelsey were admitted to practice in the Wa-ihtenaw circuit c.mrt last Monday. Dr. Frothinghain was called to Charlotte last Monday to consult with physicians of tbat place in a dangerous case, says the Republican. Jas. Hallock, formerly of Whitmore Lake, bas returned from Kansas to sell his farm and othcr property here, with the intention of making his permanent home in the west. Major John Tyler, one of the leadinp politicians of Buffalo, N. Y., and a delegat to the last National Conveution, on his way west stopped over last Friday night with his brother Prof. M. C. Tyler. We understand that Mr. A. G. DeForest, the retiring alderuian of the tbird ward, is about to remove from the city, and return to his farm at Geddesburg, much to the regret of many warm friends, and of his neighbors on High street, by whoin he and his good lady are held in high esteem.
