This great work to which we bricfly alluded last week is one which must bo socn to bo appreciated, and heneo instead of an extended review we advise our readers to examine it and cali attention to the following opinions upon its uierits from Bome of tbe most distinguished scholars and educators in the country : From Prof. Louis Agasiz, LL. D., late of Harvard unioersitu, Mats: "Jixtremely valuablo aa a mcans of cxtcnsively circulating correct information." From ex-Prat. .).- Hópküu, D.D.LL. From Pres. Jidiu.1 II. Seelyc, D. D. LL. D., Amherst College, Mass.: I havo owned Johnston's Natural Ilistory for over a year, during which time it has been in very frequent use in my family and lam prepared to give strong tcstimony to its intorest and valué. As a desirable household, book, I know nothing of the kind in the department of Natural H story which approaches it. lts fund of entertainment and instruction scem incxliaustible and it can hardly fail tu profit atid dclight any i'iiinily w!cre it is fuund. " From Pres. F. A. 1'. Barnard, S. T. D. LL. D., M. X. S. A., Columbio, College, N. N. City.: "Best w. rk of its kind in the languaííe. " We lelievo this to be a wurk which every family and every y ung pera 'n ought to own - one of the bost educators ever published in this C"Uitry. From a Boston paper we clip the following paragraph : " In the course of a bright little speech in the woman suffrage oonvention, Miss Jennic Collins observcd that they could get fair treatment and proper reprcsentation in the newspapers if they went to work the right way to secure it. Sim ilid not lidliiive there was un editor who would refusc to open his columns to wellwritten articlcs on the subject, and shc pronounced the editors uniformly kind, courteous, andgenerous." Now Jennieunderstands thcso editora, you sec. All they want i.s to bc chuoked under the chin, pattcd on the check, pokcd in tüe ril with a parasol, and coaxcd in a winning voice, and they will do anything under the canopy i'or the ladies. Why, we knew one once to even loot arms with a strong-iuindcd mother-in-law beoause plcasantly requestod to do so by a huly, to help on the good cause.
