It is a barrel made of pulp, subjected to an onormous pressure. The advantages elaimcd fqr the inveotion arc its lightness, durability and clieapness. The body of tho barr.'l is all madr in one pieoe, froui coarse wood pulp. Tho pressure to which it is subjected ia 400 toni. The heads of the barrels are made in one pieoe in the same way, and when put together the barrels are excecdingly liglit, strong and satisfactory in every way apparently. There are two kinds, one for fruit, flour and other dry substanct'H, the other tor pil, lard and liquids of all kinds. It s said that a flour barrel made in this way, aud filled, can be dropped froni a wagon to tho pavement without injury. Fruit paeked in these receptados keops longer than when put up in the usual way, being dryer and exeluded from the air. The barrels for liquid mbatances are made by subjecting the first form to a siuiplo process, and oil can be kept in them without any leakago. The saving in cost is about 50 per cent. Steps are being taken for the foruiation of a oompanyto manufacture barrels, tubs, etc., by this new prnoOM
