The great Kast River bridge betwccn New York and Brooklyn is still in course of construction, and inuoh remainn tobe done. Tho steel for the roadway wliioh is to be hung trom the cables is not yet delivcrod. The stonework on the approaches is exlected to be fiuished by December 1 ; one arge building to be torn down, the Icvated railway station in Chathani street vritl have to be removed and a bridge must ii1 huik ovar the elevated roud at Franklin square. The Brooklyn approaohes are also et to be constructed. The approaches on Kth bidés oi' the river are oxpected to be ïlly completed in about six months, uniese ie weather is so severe a.s to retard the uason work. The engineers had hoped to lave the bridge open to the public on July , 1881, but the delay in getting the struüure has disappointed them -¦ thatthey do ot expeot lo finish it until September, 881. Wbeo Christianity has a dwclling in a man's hoart it cannot be hid in his lite.
