I he editor of the Clinton News will be pretty well comed f he gcts the fifty bushels of tbat cereal which he asks for on subBcription. Hoe-cakcs! Eh ? The Oxford Globo u in a sad frame o f iiiind. Hear it : " Our wood pile dissolves like the báseles fabrio of a visión, or like the morning dew. We look out and find it not, neither do we know where my moro in eoiniog f rom." The Marshall Statesman has the followng notice of a new iuvention for school rooms. Weexpect to see editorial work boDe by electricity sooo: "An electric bell is the latest iuiprovement at the high school room, wheieby a tap on the bell in the study room, uwakens a responsivo echo in all the recitation rooms at exactly the -ame instant, and sounds the signal for retreat, especially welcome is it to the pupil wbo doesn't happen to be ' posted on the.topic under discussion.' " Tlie Centcrvillo (St. ,lo. eoanty) llepublican, has thig excellent report of' tlie way things are booming : " Business of all kinds scems to be doíng well in our village; no department of trade but bas its share or' patronage. Wheat, .'orn, wood and other commodities are daily seen on our streets. Our iiierchants are busy and greet their customers with biuiles. Our knitling faotory is running to the extent of jts capaoity, giving employment to some sixty five hamls, and the goods they manufacture cannot be excelled. Surely, we are a prusperous pcople. ' ' The Albion llepublican of October L'-'d, completes the first year of its existence. lts editor and publisher, Mr. B. H. Bissell, is an energetic man, else he could not start in against such opposition and in the short space of one year work up a suoeessful buui. ness. The llepublican is one of the neat, sensible, live papers of central Michigan, and it is these qualities added to its sound republicanisui which givea the ournal suocess. It is to be hoped many aDnivcn-ui -ics may be celebrated by the Kepublican md its excellent editor and proprietor. A new candidato for public favor, kaown as the Michigan School Moderator, handsonie in typographicalapiearanic, and giving proof of excellent editorial ability, has been received from the metropolitan city of Grand Hapids. It is asixtcon-pageweekly, and devoted to the teacher, the school and the family. Michigan is a fine field for such a papar, and, judging from the evident sagacity of the managers of this enterprise, it will soon win its way into the hearts of the intelligent masses and wortu out of their pockets the $2 a year, or pro rata for a shorter time. It will be found especially nteresting by school teachers. The Montcalm Hcrald comes to us again after its baptism of fire, as bright, and hopeful as ever. fiere is what the paper says for itself : "Our intentions in the future are to rebuild our office as soon as possible with brick and to restore the Herald to its former condition and probably better than ever, but to do this it must take a little time. For the present we íhall build a temporary structure across the street from our tormer location, whorc we shall at once commence gatbering together material for our new office. We are now suffering somewhat from excitement and mental depression in consequence of the oalamity whicli has come upon us, and tbcrefore the reader must excuse this desultory sketch. We are in no mood for wriiing." "Rob." Smith, editor of the Gratiot Journal, has been ovexworking and is now seriously til with brain fever.
