At no period in iheir hi.story .sincc the United State beovne a nation has tbis peoplo had so abundant and co uuiversal reasons for joy and K'atitude at the favor of' Almighty God, or heen subjeot to ) profound an obligation to givc thanks for His loving kindness and humbly to implare Hisconlinuedcareand prntectinn. Health, wealth and proeperilj throughout.all ur borders; pcacc, honor and tiiundship with alltheworld, 6rm and faithful adherenee by the great body of our population to the principies of liberty and justicc which have made our grestness as a nation and to the wise institutions and strong frame of government and the society wbich will perpetĂșate it, for all these let the thanks of a happy and united people, as with one voice, ascend in devout homage to the Giver of all good. I therefore recommend that on Thur8day, the 25th day of November next, 'ho people meet in their respective place8 of worship to make the acknowlcdgement to Altnighty God for His bounties and Ui protection, and to offer to Him prayer for their continuance. In witness hereof, I have hereunto set iny hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affized.
