Thire will ba thirty senators and representativos at Lansing this winter who have been nmbcrs of the two previous legisla tares, and eightoen more who have had legislative cxperience. It is fortúnate for the beft interests of'our state that there ia so many legislators returned who are well aequainted with some features of the legisUtioD whioh hu been enacteJ for the past i'ew years. The Post and Tribune says that Judge Pavis' decisión in the Philp case puts a brand upon Crongressman Hcwitt, of New Vork, that will stick to him as long as he live, and mak e him a person to be despised and shunned by honorable men. In our opinión when a judge travels outsido of the record and tesümony he thould not be sustained by the press of his party. Some chronic grumblers in Ypsilanti, whose only object in living seenis to be to see how unhappy they can uiake themselves, and all with whom thcy raay couie in contact, are trying to stir up a Rectional feeling between their beautiful, thriving city and Ann Arbor, on account of the peo pie here voting for sorae of their own candidates at the recent election. The trutli is both cities have acted about alike in this matter. Ypsilanti run one or Iwo of her candidatos largely ahead, and Ann Arbor did '.he sanie tbing. „ H ovinir ron tu iho Lnnsine Journal. of Nov, llth, a criticiero upon fhe fiev. 11. M. Jcy for a bitter attaek npon the Hon. H. P. Henderson, of Mason, late candid ate upon tbe democratie ticket for attorney general, we wish to add a word of approval thereto. Duri '-- e' -ve sesSIon a was our goed fortune to form the acquaintanceof Mr. Henderson, and we believe liim to be as honorable, upright and pure a gentleman as that body contained. To be sure, bis political sentiments differ from our own, but he is evidently sincere and bone.st in his convicii( ns, and so entitled to respect. It would be extremely difficult to make the people wbo know Mr. Hender on believe tbat he is capable of doing a thing in any uianner beneath the dignity of a gentleman.
