The Oouiuek threaten to brlng Ypsilanti to repentance for aefpatiiig K. P. Allen. If Mr. Baal hu t't so iiiucli power, why dlda't he tril lis whut to lo before? IIow were we lo know theresalt of a crime (?) like tuis?- Ypsllnntian. Tliore has been nothing in tbe columns of the Courier which should cali out such an item as tbe above. The editor of this paper has made no threats, as the editor of the Ypsilantian well knew when he ponned the above, which eeems to have been actuated by an unfriendly if not a malicious spirit. The pride and glory of Washtenaw county are its schools, especially those of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor. It is unfortunatp, hut none the less truthful, that the people of other portions of the state do not feel the deep interest in these great nstitutions of learning that is feit by residents of our county. On the contrary there is a pretty general and deep-seated feeling amoug the law makers of our state that the cornmon schools are quite adequate to our necessittes, and all that our taxpayers should be called upon to support. 'l'liis feelinL was extensively manifected two years ago, when the very able delegación from this county unitedly asked the state to rebuild the normal school structure at Ypsilanti, which had been destroyed by fire. Fully nine-tcnths of the logislaturo were opposed to it at first, paying that its period of uscfu!ness had gone by, and if it was to bo continued, a departtnent for ducating teacher ouW be afta ch d to i-oiji ythe ut our cducational institutions. Mr. Allen workod Unremittingly niht aml day, and ty his powers oí persuasión, do ped energj and pentvonBou, hc succoeded in clianging th sentiment of hostility, umi obuined iho nooossary aipropribttOoH. Kor uccoiDplisbirg wliich tho pcople of V:i.-litnaw county, and every decent oitire of Ypilanii, especially, regardless of party uffiliations, bould feel thankful. And, now, to our young friend of the Ypsilnntian, allow us to kindly offer a suggettioo, natucly: Stem clear of that old rut of hatred and fault findirg which niaiie suocess and the csteem of the peoplo a thing inpofsible for yourerraticand agcd rela'ive to aequire. It was this spirit of unliuppiness and general fault finding that led you to step out alone into the field of journalism, aod as you wish for success, avoid the same course. Misrepresentation, unkind and untruthl'ul word are in the end spt to reaet upon their author.
