Our choicc s dccidcdly Mr. Conger, for the rcason that he has more of the stalwart republicanism oi' old Zïch in him than cither of the others, and hc should bc to the people of this state what Gen. Garfield is to the people of Ohio, as tliey both for years stood side by side in Congres., the two acknowledged leaders of the house The indications now are that cach of the above candidatos will have about an equa number of votes in the caucus. The New York Tribune of Nov. JKth, 1880, has this to say of one of Michigan' sods : "Noman in the house has better earocd a promotion than Omar D. Conger. He is completing his sixth eonsecutive of service au exceeding valuable lueuiber both in a political and legislative sense. He has particularly distinguislied himsclf as a keen debater and an aggressive party leader since the republicana have been in a ininority in the house. People who re well informed about the politios of Michigan say there i.s no doubt that hc will bt. sent to the senate."
