The Michigan sportstuen ¦ associatioi for the protcction of game, fish and birds. will hold its 6th annual session at Lansiog, commcDcing Tuesday, January 2"th, 1881, at t p. m., and eontinuing onc and a half or twu days. Kvery local club or society organized in the interc-t of game and fish prutection or propagation, mproveinent in roarksmanship and outdoor recreation, or the study of the natural history of game animáis of the land and water, in the state, ia earnestly desired to send delegates to the number of five (or less) to this meeting, and individuals, sportsmen and citizens interested in the objectsof thisassociation, are inviied to attind and'become individual menibers of the state association, and be entitled to all the privileges of elected delégate. Contributed articles and essays, upon any subject of interest to sportsmen, naturalists and studcnts of nature - on laws for the proteetion of game animáis of fur and feather, and insectivorous bird ; on fish laws, including propagation as well as proteetion ; on trespass laws, and the mutual rights of sportsmen and land owners ; on enforcement of game, fish and trespass lawB ; on nonienclature, both popular ánd Bcientific ; on sporting dogs; on hunting. aní'liní?, fíui-S powders, projeetiles, exp1'1" ment., observatious, etc., etc., are rcquested from every source without furthersolicitation. This will be one of the most vital as well as interesting meetings ever held by this association. The wanton slaughter of deer for the hides only, and the fact that not less than 1'), 000 deer, killed mostly by professional market hunters from othcr states, were shipied out of the state to eastern markets during the thrce months just closed, should arouse our citizen9 to a sense of the importance of preserving this valuble game animal in particular, for present and future generations, bcfore it is too late. A Inrge attendance is expected and desired. Charles IJ. Peck, of Port Huron, G. S. Wormer and Frank II. Croul, of Detroit, have been appointed as the Qov. Jerome's aides-de-camp, with the rank of colonel in the state militia. Georgia has adopted a constitution which provides that the legislature shall meet but once in two years, and then continue in sesfion but 40 days. Sensible Georgiana.
