Aceording to cali the annual meeting of tbc state press association convened at Lansing last Tuesday, Kioe A. Beal of the Aon ArborCoriuKR, presidinp, and Edwin S. Hoskin, (t' tbc Bellevue Gazutte, as Hocretary. The excursivn eomniittee, tlirough its chairman, W. ÍS. George, of the Lansing Republican, repoited in favor of an eicursion to the peaboard via tbc St. Lawrepce River, etc., to be given soiue time during the month of August. Copies of the annual report were ordered sent to every meoiber of tho association, and to newspapers of the state uot represented at the meeting, on ruotion of Mr. Sorippa. The comniittec on tlie preparation of tbe libel law reported turough Mr. Shepard, a draft of the proposed bill, whicli ws approved by a vote of the associaüon. A committee ot'fivo upon legislation was appointcd. as follows: Wni. Stocking, of the Detroit Post ; Joseph Greusel, of the Detroit Fice Press; G. R. üsmun, of tbe Detroit Evening News; Col. G. P. Sanford, of the Lansing Jouraal ; and V. S. George, of the Lansiog Keiublican. It was resolved to ask the repeal of act 192 of the t.ession laws of 1S79, ttaid act, Senator Sbepard asserting, being designed onjy for a special case. The report of.the treasurer, E. F. Gabrill, which shuwod a soiall balance in tbe triaaury, was read and approved. The committee on nominattons reported the following list of officers for tbe ensuing year : President, C. V. DcLand, of Ike Kust Sajfliiuw Herald. Vlce-Preuldent, Col. Oeo. P. Sanford, of the Lansing Journal; Jame M.Shepard, of the Casaopolls Vlgllont; and Orno Strong, qf ttie NashTllle News. Secrelary, Edwin S. Hosklns, of the Belleviie üazfttf Treasurer, E. P. Gabrill, of the Greenvllle Independent. Tbe meeting, wbicb was well attended, and an iotereoting ouo to editors and pubishers iu general, closed with a discussinn upon raten of advertising, work, etc. The adjournment was made subject to the cali of the president.
