I Propose.l hy an olj parish miniiter n New Vork Independent.] The persons to be niarried anew to second partners being present, wilh suitable witnesses, it is well that the minister Bhould briefly exhort them to the effect that marriage is a serious business, and yet not so very serious, ader all? and should encourage them to be of good cheer, because mistakes are easily corrected. After which he may read in Husea i : 2, "60 take unto thee a wife," etc. ; and iii:l-3, "Go yet love a woman beloved of her friend," etc. Then he will do well to otnit the eust.omary invitation to an? present to show "just cause orimpediment, and proceed at ooee to require of the bridegroom to show good reastin wliy he has a right to be married, uotwiilmtanding he has a wife living. Then let the man anwer thus, or to the like effect: Ilere are the papers, all fresh and rogular, from tlie court of county, In diana. Cause, incompatibilitv of temper, and the assurance of' Messrs. Quirk, (Jaturaon it Snap that they have been procured promptly and without publicity. And the wonian shall answer thus, or to tbc like effect : Oh I I'm all right. Divorce from the superior court of Conneeticut, (Jhief Justice Park presiding. Cause, conduct tending to defeat the object of the marriage reliitmn. Then let the ministor say : W'hogiveth the indemnity bond to the minister to secure hini, incale there should be any trouble jjrowlng out of this little affair ? And, this questioo having been answered by the execution, then and there, of a good and siffficient bond, let the persons to be married take each other by the hand, and let the minister say to the bridegroom, caliing him by name : - xou , take this woman to be your more or less lawf'ul wife, and to promiso to render to her the duties that society expeots of you in this relation, until soine incompatibility of temperarises or until the present arrangement is resularly dissolved by the divorce eourta. Thus you promise ; though, if you don't chooso to keep your word, I do not sec what in the world is going to be done about it. Ans. - With this understínding, I do. Then let the minister say to the bride : You, , take this man to bc, in a oertaiu sense of the word, your lawful husband ; and you promise, having taken all necessary precautions, to secure your property in your own right, to show a due respect to the conventionalities of society until jncompatibilily er divorce shall part yon. Htm you promUe. Ans. -It strikes me as safe to do so. 1 pronounce you, therefore, in tbe sense in which the words are useii in tbe statute, to be husband and wife. And since your being joined together is in diatioct contravention of the law of God, there seems to be no obvious reason why man should not put you asünderat hi.i own discretion. Prayer and benediction being manifestly inappropriateon such an occasion, the services may bc concluded by the paying of fee.
