The mcuibi'i i ol' our present legislatura eem very much exercised over the printing and publi.shiiig of' the now couipilatioti of the laws of the state. That uubt not lo be a very great stunibling block to a -traight, forward legislator. If tliis work has got to be taken out of. the of the state printer, lo whoiu iu uur hunible judgnient it rightfully beloqgs, it certainly sbould be giveD to the lowest raaonsible bidder. The so called "llowell" bill lookl to our eyes like a put-up job by a firm outside our state to capture the work at good. lat piitei, and the menibor whu delibérately votes for it while othcr and Ketter bid confront hiiu, will place himself in a not very enviable light befóte thepcople. We ou see no ju-t rcaon why Messrs. Richmonds, Baokua ('.. who have ihfl lowest responsible bid offered, so far. by nearly if not fully fil'ty per eent., shoiild not be awarded the contract, if it must be taken out of its u.ual channel. All the people want is for the lefiislature to do the square thing, and Rive the contract to thé lowttt responsible bidder.
