The seniora will not sup together as a class tuis year. The caps of the seniora will b a maroon color, skull, with tassel. The freshman upper will occur on the evening of the 27th inst. Prof. DuPont's thoughts turn toward France as vacation approaches. Dr. O'Neil has been teinporarily appointed hospital surgeon in place of Dr. Bennett. Prof. J. W. Langley hhb cuied pt ent -npon a governor for hi dynamlc machine. The junior and sophoiuore classes came out with their new class hats last Wednesday morning. A large number of new specimens of birds have been set up by the tariUermUt in the new museum. The university base ball nlne have got their hands in now. The normal school ninc, of Tpsilanti, have challenged them. At the annual election of offleers of the studente' lecture assoclations, to be held o-morrow, there will be two tickets In the field. It lias been declded not to toucli au y of the contemplated improvemenU on the campus until after the regent's meeting In June. The senior class had their group plctures taken last Saturday, Mr. North, of the Toledo flrm, having the contract carne up ln-re to take the negativos. Last Wednesday and Thursday there was an examination of the medical studente in anatomv and chnmUtrjr, bofore the state board of examinen. Those terrible doctors in the medical profession have succeeded in restoring the eyesight of Mrs. Ira Colé, of Paw Paw, who has been blind for two years. The sophomores held Uieir upper and hop at armory hall on Friday eyening last. The attendance wai not large, but those who were there are said to hare had a jolly time. J. C. Crombie, class of '77, bas reslgued the guperintendency of the Coldwater schools, and F. A. Barbour, class of '78, has been promoted frnm the principalship to the vacancy. Rev. Dr. J. P. Newman, of New York city, the author, preacher, and traveler, and one of the most brilliant pulpit orators in the world, is to deliver the comtnencement address. The fencing club had tlielr appetites whetted by the excellent skill shown tn the Legión of Honor troupe, and there are said to be candidatos for the tage among their number. Ttiey are all sald to be making excellent progresa. The Alpha Delta Phl frateniity is to hold ts 49th animal convention at Brown unlversity, located at Providence, R. I., on May 24 and 25th. Wm. H. (iraham, of Grand Rapids, and A. C. McLaughlin, of Muskcgon, have been chosen delégate to represent the chapter in tlils university. J. Willis Parker, clas of '76, who Is studying law at Olatbe, Kansas, has honor lieaped upon him. Sotne six months since be had the title of " papa " thrust upon hls shoulders, and now signs his name with J. P. after it, the people of Olathe having chosen him as a justice of the peace recently. Chapel Wcdnesday mornlng wlll be remembered for a long time in unirerslty circles, for it is recorded that on that occasion, the 3d of May, 1881, there were upwards of 400 students present (thirty is about the usual attendance). Tbe cause of this unusual devotion on the part of the boys seemed to be their "class bats." The júniora with their light colored plug were the flrst there, then carne he sophs with their light Derbys, uixl when the sédate seniors with their black ilks came marching in, it was too much br the gravity of the occasion, and a little applause had to be giren. After the derotional exercises Prof. Frieze took occaion to compliment the boys upon their plendid deportment tbe present year, and told huw glad it made him feel to send uch excellent reports to their president l.roii'l. They all left the chapel feeling bat it was well that they had gone there. t Is to be hoped that sometblng may ocur oftener to take the boyi where they hould go.
