Memorial day has once more been sacredly kcpt n Ann Arbor, and notwithstanding the threatening storm which kept rauny away, a vast multitude assemblod in tlie 5th ward cemetery to witness the cereinonies of the day, which consisted in strewing flowers and planting flags arourul tlie sokliers' monument by the children, a poeni by the president oL the society, llrs. K. Moore, and music hy the Ann Arbor city band, and short addresses by the president of the day, Capt. Manly, Rev. Mr. Ud lln SumlerUnd, Kev. D. R. Shire, Hou. A. J. Sawyer, Prof. Wllaon and Mrs. N. H. Pierce. And all through the threatening storm, wlth the artlllery of heaven rumbling in the dlstance, the speakers and nnisic held au attentive audience to the end. The ladles' decoration society wish to thank all who so kiudly assisted thcru to commemorate the memory of "our nation&l martyrs." To the the speakers who so unselfishly left other pressing duties to give of -vmpathy and encouragement, we would tender our heartfelt thanks; also shall we renieinbcr kiudly Prof. Wilsey's goodness of heart in teaching the childr.n tlicir beautiful song. To the offlcers of the day, Mr. ]U presiilent. Mr. I5alhvin, marshal, uid Mr. Gidley, pĆ³lice, we are very grateful. And Wendell and Eli Lewis Moore, who . their time and labor in preparing the ground, we would remember in our vote of thanks, and all who helped to make the the day a succes.
