The new department of political science is creating wide spread attention, and bkls fair to dra many new students. Tliore luis been soine criticism, also. The univerelty nuthoritiaa have beei botliered with so many quesüons retpeetln] tuition and the cost of attendlng the dtffer ent dei)artment8, and :i detcnnincd attempt on the part of people to put a wrong eonstruction on the payment of matriculation and annual fees, thüt they liave been xtreraely explicit in the new announce nients relative tliereto, and have tricd to inake tlicm simple and plnin cnough for everybody to understand. The legislaturc last winter repealed the law allowing graduates froni the law departnient of our university to pract:ce in any of the courts of the state without further reqiiireincnts, aml herotfter they will be requireil to pass examination, the sanie as other candidates at the bar. This, it is thought, will reduce the attendance upon that department. The legislature took the right view of the matter, even if it does reduce the numbers at the law school, and clieat our county clerk out of two or thiee liundred dollars every spring.
