Some of the state papers are severely critioising the sending of so many lawyers to the legislatura and to congress, on the groand that it s to their interest to increase li'iril;itioii, and that they make the Iaw9 complex for that purpose. There is undoubtedly some trutli in the assertion, yet some of the very best and most effective laws ii pon our statnte books were eonceived and secura! to the peoplc by men belonglog to this same profussion. It would secm to us that to make war upon the entire class of lawyers, with ¦ view of shutting tWem out from the law BUldog branch of oor state and national govurnments, is wrong. Not all of them allow their cupidity to warp their lionesty. It is the class known as "shysters" - which are to le found In nearly every communlty, it is true- that should be contemned and cx -ludcd from the legislative halls. A cry -I ld not be raised against any onc pron or nvocation. The better clnss of people, by attending the primaries, can place in nomination hom st DMB, whetfaer they be lawyers or doctors, merchante or farmers. That much it II (tor duty to do. It doesn't look well for a man who considers hiinself composed of too ti iic metería] to attend acaucus, togo aboat gifwltng over tba aetion of saidcaucus. He should pull off his coat and help M nplisli the cads he desires accomplkhed. Sti we say, iustead of excliiding any man from office, or producing a prejudiee agkhttt iiini beatoM hc is ot i certeln prorewioo, the better way is to attend thf primaries aml place none but good nun in nomination. Such a course will remcdy the cvil without unjustly prejudicing the niiihls of the ieople against any 'class or ealling. Nominate a man lccause he i believed to le honest, not because he follows this or that avooation or profes.-ion. fMWnl thing he who inveighs Üic loudest against the dishonesty and degeners.y oí American politics, is he who con(iden bimwli too good to help do the real work Of U4 campaign, . e., attend the primaries. Let every American (itizcu do his diity, and tliore will be no cause forgrowling. It has been demonstrated time and time iguin, that the veaectiil, honest, law-abiding eitizciis can control the nominations aml electioni In nearly every l(K:ality in tlie unión, il' Ihcv but i.nitedly make the 'tlort.
