Sereral montha ago ttrs. Lóslaa Reed Stowell, profenor in the literary department of the University, received a letter fiom Messrs. K. & J. Beek, mentors in Londoo, Kngland, stating that tliey had ju -t perfected a veiy line new style of microscope, anil bad .ent word to all the principal microscopists in the country, asking that thcy snggest a name for the new invention. Mrs. Stowell tharoopon sent the name "Ideal," and forgot all about the matter until the other day when she received a letter from Messrs. Beek that if she called at the express office here she would Jind 8omething there for her. She called as suggested and received a box which, being opened, disclosedahandsome mahogony box containing a sample of the new microscope referred to. On the instrument was a silver píate bearing lier Dame and the word Ideal, showing that the microscope had been named as she snggested. Mrs. Stowell is very much pleased with her bandsome present, which san acknowledgment very worthily bestowed. -Daily News, Nov. 7.
