J. A. Green, lit '80, is studying law at Lebanon, Tenn. Thanksgiving vacaüon begins Tuesday evening and lasts three days. H. Mc Crea, pharmic '80, is in a wholesalc drug house at Augusta, Georgia. C. W. Thompson, lit '84, is in business at Escanaba, Upper Península, Mich. It is reported that Professor Ilennequin is to lecture this winter at Howell, on the Siege of Paris. Wm. Helmie, lit '80, is in the educational department of the U. S. census bureau, at Springfleld, 111. Several members of the senior law class have been adiuitted to the bar during the present term of court. Professor Demmon ptirchased, wbile in England, about lifty volumes as an addition to his private library. A very fine photograph of Víctor Hugo hanírs in Professor Watson's room. It was taken froni an oil palnting. H. C. Calkins, pharraic '78, bas sokl liis drug store at Soutli Lyons, with the intention of locating somewhere in the West. A. R. Rood, lit '81, spentöunday in Ann Albor. He is principal of the Saline schools, and is having good success there. Hon. Geo. R. Wendling, the well known lecturer, will appear in University Hall to night. His subject is " Voltaire," and no oue should fail to go. The new mechanical laboratory on the campus is to be built by A. H. Hammond. The building is located to the uoith and eist of the dental building. The foundation ha already been laid. The Alpha Nu literary society is preparing to give its regular annual special prograiuiue for Thanksgiving week. The time appointed for it is next Friday evening, la Alpha Nu hall. Webster Cook, forraerly a resident of York townshiii, now principal of jschooU at Maniste, has been appointed as a member of the State Board of Visitors to Grand Traverse college. He graduated wlth the literary class of '78. Twenty-five senior laws came down to the court house last Saturday, to be examined for admission to the bar. The judge had time to examine three only- Miss L. A. Woodin and Messrs. George and Roberts. They were admitted and the rest will be examined when time permita. A combination game of foot-tall wae played by the students of the literary depi-rtment last Saturday. A picked eleven from the senior and sophomore classes were defeated by a team chosen from the juniors and freshmen, the Jatter making three touch-downs to the former one. Now we hear that the model students of Albion college have been naughty. They celebrated Hallowe'en by tearing up sidewalks and committing other depredations. Will the papers throughout the state that are so ready to circuíate bad stories about Michigan University please score one for Albion. Those interested in the advancement of musical taste will be plcascd to lcarn that the Musical Society is making nrrangements for a series of chamber concerts, to bc Riron n tlie room tut apart forthat purpose, In the north win" of the University building. These concerts will be given by distingulshed artists from abroad, assisted, now and then, by our best home talent. As the room in which these concerts are to be jriven is not of very great capacity, a limited number of tickets will be issued and put on sale at reasonable rates. This is another step in the right direction, and is duc in a great degree to the energy of Prof. Cady. The flrst of these concerta will be given November 25.
