The unfortunate affair wliich has culniinated in-the resignation of Mr. H. D. Bennett, at least has onegood thingabout it, and that ia that the Board after making the examiuatioti, and fiiiding he had taken the money were nut long in actinjj in the right direction. So far they liad done well. Had they continued in their traightforward way and at once appointed to the vacant poaition the man they all acknowledged was best litted for it they would nor have more cause for congratulation. The temporizing course they did adopt was not creditable. No man under the sun has a better idea of the dutieg of the position of secretary and treasurer than Andrew Clirnie. As an ex rejrent, a natural inechanic, a skillfiil accountant, an honest man he had all the qualifieations for the office. These things the refrents knew, yet so unbusineas-like did they act that two or three let personal pique tway them, and they opjmsed his election. It i an unplettsant sight to see the lnterests of the University wait upon caprice.
