A day oí fauing light upon the sea; Of 6ea-birds winging to their rock v caves : And ever with ite monotone to me, The sorrcnv of tlie waves. Thej leap and lash among tlie rocks and sand, White-lipp'd, as witli a guiltysecret topsM. Forever feeling with their foañiv hands For somethiug thcy liave lost. Far out, and swaying in a sweet unrcst, A boat oí' two against thelight is eeen, Diuping their Bidés within the liquid hreast óf waters dark and green. And further still, where sea and sky have kiBs'd, There falls, asiffromheaven'aoiíuthreshold. light Upon faint hills that, half-enswathed in mist, VVait for the coming uight. But still, though all this life and motion meet, My thougbts are wingless aud lie deail iu me, Or dimly stir to answer it my feet The sorrow of the sea.
