Another accident occurred on the Toledo, Ann Arbor and Grand Trunk road Wednesday niglit. The other side of the Lower Town is a narrow embankment, which had become weakened by the recent thaw, and about nine o'clock in the evening, as a freight train was passing over it, the rails gave way, precipitating ten, cara from the middle of the train down the embankment. The track was torn up for quite a distance, and the wreck was a bad one. However, the engine, tender and caboose remained on the track. A brakeman named William Fay was thrown oft, and the heavily laden cars rolled over on him, pinning him to the earth. He retained consciousness, and talked with the men, urging them on as they were trying to release him. After being taken out both his legs were amputated, but he died before morning. He lived in Detroit, and it was his first trip on the road.
