The Paper festival at the M. E. Church, Friday evening was a complete success in every way. The rooms which had ben tastefnlly decorated were fillecl even to crowding, and maDy of the oostumes of paper showed considerable pains, art and care in manufacture. The cliief attractions of the evening were the Queen of the Cannibal Islands anĂ¼ her attendants, the nmsic, the " Mayflower," the " crazy '' quilt, and the retreshtueuts. The music was furnished by the orchestra of the City Band and was excellent in character and rendition. The little 8-page paper callerĂ¯ the " Mayflower," which had been gotteJ up for the occasion, sold rapidly, and bei cause of its valuabk) contents and elegant typography it is preserved asa souvenir of the occasion. The quilt, was composed of 0 1 blocks, and had autographs on one side and on the other the patch work. Frorn the autographs it had brought $!4.28, and when put up at auction it sold for $40.00. The editor of the Coi'hier was the lueky, one to get the quilt, but he has ashot-gun for any one who inakes any insinuations. The net proceeds of the evening were $310 00, of which $111.00 was door money, $22.50 from the Queen's reception, $15.00 f rom the "Mayflower," $14.00 from ice cream and the rest was from the sale of the various articles.
