A. B. Cook of '81 is travellnff for the Detroit Paper Company. He was n town yesterday. Prof. Demmon is busy this summer attending Teichers Institutes In the Northern part of the State. Dr. Dorrance is in attendance at the 23d animal session of the American dental association at Niágara Falls. A. C. Fanning of Troy, Pa., Law gradúate of '74, was in town last week. He is District Attorney of Bradford county. Miss Carrle Waters, of the class of '83, made a flying visit to her Alma Mater last week. She was the gnest of Miss Louise Richards. In the University boiler-house two new steel boilers are to be put in this summer to assist In lieating the Library building. They are now being made in Toiedo. Hon. V. P. Collier of Battle Creek who who was a Regent in 1877,and was obliged to resigu the ne.xtyearowing to ill-health, has been continuously unfortunate in that respect. The Journal luis this abouthim : " Hon. V. P. Collier still suffers niuch from the cáncer upon bis lip, which, bowever lias assumed a more favorable appearance, though he is considerably reduced in strength froin the irritating nature of the disease, whieh prevente sleep and needed rest. Dr. Bathrick is still very conlident of his final recoven', which isto be sincerely hoped may be the result in a short time." The Battle Creek Journal has the following concerning one of the Law School graduales of 18CÜ : "Judge Walter I. Hayes, of Clinton, Iown, and Democratie candidate for Judge of the Supreme Court in that State, is vislting Marshall, his old home. Judge Hayes is a son of. Dr. A. L. Haye? one of the prominent pioneeis of Calhoun County and at one time Rcpresentative in the State Legislatura Walter ,„.. „ gradúate of the University of eran and has become distlnguished in Iowa his adopted State, as an acute lawyer and ieadlng jurist. Notwithstanding the usual large Republican majonty in Iowa, there is thought to be astronj: prospect of his elcction to the Supreme Bcnch tuis fall.
