They Failed To Marry
Atchison Globe. A cüiiple from Jackson county arrived in Atchison yesterday for the purpose of getting married, and put up, at an uptown hotel. "I say, Kate," said the groom, "whosall we get to marry us?" "A Baptist minister, by all uieans," said the blushing brule "Now I'm willin' to do anything for you after we are married," said the groom, "but I c;tn"t stand up and let a Buptist minister marry us. If we don't get married by a justice of the peace, why we won't get married, that's all." "Oh, John, has it come to this?" was the reply. "I'm af raid if you have your own way this time that jou will eonfinue to be boss." "If you don t go and get a Baptist minister, back home I'll go, and there'll be no marriage hero today." John seemed to be very obstinate, and openly refuseel to get a mioister, while the girl was just as determined in her notions. The parties failed to make it up and returned to their homes last evening. We have since Jearned that their names were Katie Grassly and John McCook, from the vicinity of Holton.
