LIterary Notlces. In a smal] way there is coming on in Michigan a Renaissance of Art; not exactly in the line of pnxluction, but more especially in the way of appreciation of that already existing. The Art Loan In Detroit is doing this and in its train follows literature descriptive of artista and their works. To meet a popular demand Henry A Ford of Detroit has issued a Popular Dictionary of Fine Art. It has a list of Artista of all ages. The Great schools of Art; Academies and Galleries of Art; Great Art Works of the World; Brief BibHogrraphy of Fine Art and a Glossary of tenns. Osius & Co sell it for 75 cents. Our school teachers are racking their tiied brains to devise "'short cuts" to learning. Ko Royal road lias as yet been opened, but progress is being made, and ;he latest step in the direction of the languages is the ,'Meisterschaft System, i metliod simple and practcal by which one is broiiKht to speak in foreign laiignages aftcr a ten weeks study. Dr. Richard S. Koscnthal is the autlior of the system and his plan Is to issue, for instance in the Germán, French, Italian or Spanish anguages, 15 pamphlets giving instructon for $5.00. anawering all questlons by mail. This course enables the pupilss to master any of these languages. Estes Lauriat of Boston publish the books.
