The Detroit Art Loan Catalogue. - The Detroit Art Loan exhibiton, to be open day and evening until Nov. lst, is well represented by its catalogue which has just been received at this oüice. The book has 174 pages, and a title page which is a fac simile of the handwriting of Mrs. Col. Stelling, the secretary of the printing committee. Over 000 oil painttnga are catalogued, and so arrauged that the artists,with their biographies, are given alphabetically. Probably altogether there are over 5,000 art objects exhibited. lts price is 25 cents, the saine as the admisslon to the exhibltion. Hot Plowshares. A novel, by Albion W. Tourgee, 010 pp.. To the many who did not rest before reading Judge Tourgee's "A Fool's Errand" and " Bricks Without Stravv " it will be a pleasure to learn that the latest novel by this writer, '-Hot Plowshares," has been put in book fonn. Some have read it as a continued story In "Oitr Continent." These will be glad to have it as a book. Many others have not yet seen the story. They too will be glad to procure it hl durable fonn. This volume is the last of aseries of six, and it tells of the struggles of Anti-Slavery times, not in a historlcal way, but asa vivid pen picture of thoughts and actions. In point of time this one goes back of the others, even to 1848, but Ukethem it bas in itlotsof "stir."
