Gen. I ev Wallace, Amorican Minister to Turkey, and the author of that channiug novel "Ben Huiv' says he was converted to christianity by "Col. Ingersoll. He was inclined to be skoptical as to thedivinity of Christ. lnrersoll presented his infidel views, Wallaeo was ínuch impressed, butfinnly remarlecd that he was not prepared to agree with Ingersoll on eertain extreme propositions. Ingersoll thereupon urged Wallaoe to give tho matter earef ul stud v expreasius; his contidence that hewould, after so doir.g, fully acquiesco in the Ingersoll view, For six years he thono-ht, studied, and searched.
