Eider Hart, of the A. M. E. church, deserves much praise for the suceess of the iffair, inasmuch as disappointments and uulooked for difflculties seemed to beset him on all sides. On the whole the occasion was a suceess, Eider Hart clearing a nice little margin over and above expenses. The Germán lady friends of the Beethoven Society presented them last evening with a handsome fl:ig secured by them at a cost of about $175. On one side a large lyre ig worked in gold on a blue background. On the other side appear "Beethoven Gesangverein, Ann Arbor, Jlich," worked in blue against a golden background. The flag was made in Kalamazoo, and is a gift the society may well feel proud of. The Annual meeting of the Unitarian Society was held last Monday eyening in the parlors of the church. The Board of Trustees elected for the coming year consist of Judge Harriman, Dr. Wilson, Mrs. J M. Ashley, Joseph Whitlark, John Allen and Prof. Langley. The r.ew parsonage is completed, free of debt, at a cost for building and lot of $5,100. The past year has been the most prosperous in the histoiy of the society. Dr. S. A. Jones is the recipiënt of an open-faced gold watch, value $50, for smoking in 234 days ninety-six packages of cut plug gold flake tobáceo mannfactured by the Globe Tobacco Company, of Detroit. Briefly stated, this company on May lst, 1883, began placing in each two and four ounce package of the brand spoken of a card stating that certain named prizes would be awarded to the eleven largest bona fide consumera between that date and Dec. 20, the card referred to being sent in as a voucher. It was found that affidavits must be asked from parties competlng, in order properly to distribute the prizes.
