The uanie of tbe villaje was Bukeia. 1 had bcard vaguely of the uxisiem'e of a spot in Galllfce whcre a commuuity of Jews lived who olaimed to be the deseendants of families who had tilled the land ia this same loealily prior lo the (iestruci'ou of Jerusaknn and the subsequünt dispersión of the rf.oe; aml as it had never been suöpccted that any retnnant of the ñation had üluifg to tllï soilof thcir father from time inunemorial. and as it oertain that thig is the only remnant tiiat has 1 look some trouble . to ascertain the name of the village, aüd feit that it was worth a pílgrirnage to visit it. Altbough hii.hcrto unknown to ourepeans aml tourisfs, it has besn for manyyears :mu:li frequented by the Jews of Safed and Tiberias, and this s-nirinier, especial Ir, when the cholera panic prevailed in tlie Countrv, lliure was a perfect rii.-h of the wealllfier Jews and rabbis of those towns to iis puro air and bracios c.limate.
