The first Chaniber Concert of llie University Musical Society will be given tonighf, at 8 o'clock, by Mr. Wm. A. Sherwood. pianist, of Boston, assisted by Miss Majr Wliedon, soprano ; Mr. II. Wilson, 'oei lo, and Mr. Orin Cady, accompanist. Subscribers who do not receive their tickets by mail to-day may procure theni at the door this evening. _Vhen theWIlbur Opera Company oomes next Tuesday night the}' will undoubtedly give a fine entertainment. That they have done so elsewbere the notiees below testify. General Stierman and President Artlmr were both atiendan ts at Ford's Opera House, on February Slh, to witness the performance given by the Wilbur Comic Opera Company. General Sherman, at the close of the engagement, said : "I am more pleased with the company rhan any I have yet seen in Washington, and hope to see you again soon in this city." - Washington, D. C. At the Opera House, April 30th, ove one thousand milliou dollars was repre sented by the audience who assembled to wirnpRS the famous Wiihnr nnon Cnm pany in the "Pirates of Penzance." Th boxes were occupied by W. II. Vander bilt, W. A. Yanderbilt, Jr., Jay Gould Sldney Dillon, and Tiussel Sage, togethe with over thirty of the leading railroai kings of America, and all were delightec with the performance. The Opera, as renclered by the Wilbn Company, who opeued the season at tli Academy of Music, is attracting large a.iu fashionable audiences. It is replete wit mimation and pleaing airs and finel rendered by a strong eompany and fin conipany. - Baltimore Sun, Sept. 29th.
