At the Xatioual Democratie Uonvention, in Chicago, last week, were put in nomination, for President and Yice-President of the Unrted State?, respectively, Grover Cleveland, ot' New York, and Thomas A. Hendiicks, of Indiana. But two ballots were the votes of which were as follows: First. Second. Hendrlcks, of Indiana 1 4ö!4 On the second ballot an attempted break was made for Hendricks, for the first place on the ticket, but the whole afl'air proved a lizzle, for the Cleveland nieu were in the convention to force the nomination for tueir favorite, in spite of Tammany and everybody else. They won, and Tammany is pretty bacfly disgustod, trom all aupearances; then, too, Jíutler, the nominee of two conventions, tbe Greenback and Anti-Monopoly, was suubbed, and, between the two, together with nunierous other disaffected elementa of the party, Messrs. Cleveland and Hendricks are going to have a hot time of t; n short, are " our next victims " It is perhaps thouglit by inany Democrats that Hendricks, tbe tail of Ihe muchtalkedof ticket of 1870, will pull them throughif nothing else will, but there ii no oscasion whatever for alarm on the part of Republicana. It is doubtless a question with many of his own party, ly the bye, whether Mr. Hendricks isn't a candidate for almost auy position lic might be oflered.
