Company A report tlie best time in camp tliis year the y have ever liad. The boys all speak very highly of the entile arrangement and the way they we re carried out. Tlie company receivcd compliinents for various service; in the Saturday's drill they carried off the konors, speuking of wliicli the Post of Sunday morning has the following : " Co. A, 1 st Regiment, of Ann Albor, carried ofl" the honors. This company, coinmandecï by Capt. Schub, is tlie oldest in the regiment and next to the oldest in the State militia, being outranked by the Detroit Light Guard alone. After an hour's battalion drill of the fust regiment, Lieut. Colunel Wheeler ordèred the rarious captains to take their companies out for company drill. It was in this drill that Co. A was noticeably proficient. Capt. Schuh put his men through a number of evolutions in the space just south of the press quarters, in full view of many offlcers and their ladies. The company excelled in doublé quick movements in which it is particularly difflcult to maintain regalar ranks. Tlie men were kept on the run for about ten minutes In columns of fours and in single ranks. The lines were excellently maintained throughout. When the company halteü, Col. Cummins, of the Governor's staff, came out to learn whüt company it was. He told Capt. Schub that the officers who had been watching the drill were veiy much gratitied. He sairl it was the best drilling hc had seen on the grounds."
