I have heard the Rev. Dr. Steele, of wliom you vvrote me, deliver a good lecture on "Martin Lutlier Before the Diet of AYorms." It was au uble lecture except I (lid not thii.k he dwelt enough on the real causes tliat brought about the Ke formation. After the lecture I Introduce] myielf and we had a very pleasant chat about Aun Arbor. I like Dr. Stcelevery much. He preaclied several times in Berkley. I heard him twice and was sorry I cojikl not hear him again. Prof. Moses was present on the nlght of the Lecture. I have not seen Mis. Ames but shall cali on her soon. 1 think Blaine will carry this state but it will not be a walk over. Saw a torenlight procession of demócrata in Oukland the other night wblch was about as line a one as I ever saw. There were about ¦4,000 in line and thcy were all young, good lookinj? men. There is not yet mach enthusiasin for either side, but 1 BUppof It will come later on. Our school is very large and the students well behaved."
