In answer to certain false charges whicli have been published recently, and having Impllcit confidence in the honesty , and integrity of our soldier auditor o-en'eral, Cotnrade William C. Stevens," we desire to present to our late comrades in arras the following facts, feelinjr assured that the facts speak for themselves. At the present time there are Go cleiks employed in the auditor general's office, of whotn 54 are regular or permanent cleiks, and 11 are "temporary," employed ouly for a short time. Of the regular cleiks there are: soldiers 19, vvidows of soldiers 8, son of a soldier 1, daughter of soldier 1, sisters 2, nam in hospital ] total 27. Of the 11 temporary clerks 4 are soldiers and 1 the wife of a soldier. Of the regular soldier clerks 8 were appointed by Major Stevens; his total regular appointments have been 11.
