1 De Uhristmas conference tliat organizad the Methodist Episcopal Churcli convened Dec. 24, 17S4, and continued n session to Jan. 2, 1785, and now all the Methodist cliurches in the world propose to observe tbis centennial periori wlth proper services, and they hope to inake k one of special conseoraüon to the service of the Lord. ín conformity therewlth the Asbury Oentennry Association has sent out the following program of thenies and exercises for the week, wliich will le known as " Centenary Week '' : Wednesday, Dec. 24- Tueiae: Personal cousecration. Thureday, Dec. 25- Tlieme : Prayiug the Lord of the harvest to seud forth laborer. Friday, Deo. Theme: The prayer of faith. ThU day should be observed as a day of fasttng and prayer for God's blessing on the chureh. Saturday, Dec. 27-Theme: Prayer forGod's blesstng on the services of the sabbat I) Sunday, Dec. 28- At 9 a. in., Love feast. At 10:30 a. ni., Centenary sermón. Theme : Chris tlan educaliou, the leading work of our seeond century, or gratitude for what God has done for us and for the world during the past hundred years through the M. K. chureh. Af ter the sermón, let the centenary offc-rlngs be recelved from the chureh and congregation. Where ptedges have already been made, let the roll be called, and the olferlngu already pledged be preseuted flrst, and tlien let the voluntary oflerings of the people be added. At 3 or 7 p. m., Suuday-school celebratlon. Monday, Dee. 29-Theme : The Spirit baptism. Tuesday, Dec. 30- Tlieme : Chrlstlan activlty. Wednesday, Dec. :1- Watch nlght. Theme: The Chrlstian's responslblUty for the salvatlon of souls. Thursday, Jan. 1-Theme: ('hrlstian unity. Friday, Jan. 2- Theme : Conquest of the world in the name of Chrlst. Attention is called to the concert to be given next Tuesday evening, the lGtli.by the School of Music, at university hall. The wrk of the school in raising the general standard of musical culture, and in the methodical and tliorough preparation of teachers and performers, s now well known; and when they announce a concert by the teachers and advanced impils, the public is assured of an honest elfort to give the veiy best uiuslc in the best possible marnier. How far tliey succeed in this endeavor is ittestcd by the increasing atteudance at the weekiy pupils' rehearsals held every Frulay afternoon. The programme will contain, among other nuinbers, two eoinpositions for violin and piano of rare merit which have never been baard liere before. These will be played by Mr. Luderer, Mi.-s Wood, and Miss May. The vocal niinibers will consist of solos by Mis. Worden and Mrs. Haviland, a "duet by Miss Wbedon and Mrs. Haviland, and onu or two nutnbt-rs by the Auipliioii Ulub. To-morrow, Thursday evening, liev. E. A. Higins, professor of philosophy in the CiHcinnati university, will lecture In the grand opera house, before the younif men's lecture association. His subrci will be " Uavid Hume, the Bkeptical Philosopher." Mr. Hig;íins has the repulation of being an able lecturer, a clear thinker, and will present the subject as viewed trom a Catholic Itandpolnt, in a vvay that will be plensiug tu the atidience. E. church, the election of officers for the .Sunday school took place, and resulted as follows : Superintendent, Geo. A. Douglass; Assistant Superintendents, J. R.
