tuc muunuuscuui ngui piam is nuw ia full operation and is giving general saüsfaetion to its users. Despite the fact that tlie quality of the gas is far botter thau ever before, and also the recent reduction in prlce, the merchants Iiave discovered that it is not only as cheap but also preferable to gas in a great many ways. In the vain endeavor to prove the contrary, the agecl superintendent of the gas company has been trotting around trom store to store for the past th ree weeks, but the facts are too much even for his methods of argument, and he loses his valuable time in enipty wind. #Much was promised people from the reduction in the price of gas, but they cannot be fooled very long when they find their bilis just as large as ever. With gas one bas to pay for more than he burns. His bil] is ever aii uncertain quantity until it is presented, when, to say the least, it is seldoni if ever below expectations. For with leakages, extra pressure on the uietres, and mistakes in reading the registration on the dials, the bilis are often considered outrageous. These things, together with the inherent good qualities of the llght itself, make the incandescent globes all that is to be desired. Two sizes of the light are in use, viz.: the 10-candle and the 16-eandle lamp. The forraer answers to the ordinary live or six-foot gas burner, while the other excels an eiglitfoot burner. These latter are coming more and more into use on account of their biilliancy. As an example of what can be done for outdoor lighttng a lamp is suspended from the corner of The Courier building. Those who have the light are The Courier office, the postoffico, W. Boughton, E. M. Southard, Dr. Obetz, P. Long, Democrat office, II. AVanzig, express and telegraph offices, skating rink, A.
