Hogers, went to Hillsdale 011 Jlouduy, and from there will go to McCook, Xebraska, where in coinpany with abrotherand sisters will lócate a tract of over 1,900 acres of land. Yesterday morning tliere came into the COcrier office, a huge silver-vvolf fur overcoat, a la Esquimau, evidently surrounding a tall person fiom oroun to heels. When it opened up there was a man iwside it by the name of B. B. Bennett, who was fresh from that vicinity of the north pole called Detroit City, Minnesota. He was graduated from _the literaiy department In '82, and is now perintendeiit of schools in Detroit, and Uere on a vacation visit. His present home is near the headwaters of the Mississippi, beyond the Red Iliver valley. It is the highest point in Minnesota or Dakota, so they have a chance to get the full benelit of the weather. In sutnmer t sometióles goes over a huudred degreesin the simde, and noshade to get under. And in winter their spirit thermometers often do not }et their spirits up any higlier tlian 30 to 40 below zero. When the wind blows they get the pure, genuine article fresh f rom the Pole, right oö the ice. Nearly every one of the cold mornings they see three suns : the original Sol and two dog suns, one on each side, which both leave behind and send ahead traila of light and which at iioonday join in a circle around the great luminary. Their Aurora Borealis is also a great attraction which alone is worth the price of admis. sion. As may readily be imagined there are too many cold days up there for democrats to thrive, so the republicana in that district elected their congressman by 15000 majority. In the county north of there Mr. Bennett says there was not a single democratie vote cast. He likes it there and says they do not miiid the cold much. In the summer it is pleasant and they enjoy good hiinting and rishing.
