Hilan opened her new opera house with a grand ball Christinas. The thermometer dropped clear through lts bottom over to Hilan last week. Benj. Emerick, of Ypsilanti, had about 150 chlckens stolen one night last week. The grand masquerade carnival at the Dexter skating riuk was a success Honday night. Ilarry Stevens, who has been absent in Dakota for five or six years is visiting bis parents at Milan. Where twineth the woodbine ? Where ihe Stockbridge and Chelsea telephone eleepeth.- Stockbridge Sun. Mr. and Mrs. Benj. Becker, havearrived at Dexter, trom Academy, N. Y. and will remain during the winter. According to the county papers Christrnas brought considerable enjoyment to the people of the county, after all. Miss Alley's pupils, in the Dexter school, bought a handeome perfumery case and presented her with it recently. Fence rails are worth $25 per thousand in the woods at Bridgewater. Stone fence usually costs even more in the end. Some of the Hanchester boys held tickets in the last Lousiana drawing, but no one has heard of any one attaiuing sudden riches thereabouts. Jeiorne Druiy, of Hilan, was celebrated Dec. 14, and among the gifts was one from Mr. and Mrs. Van Slyck, of Anti Arbor. The clerks in the office of S. S. Post, pension agent, of Ypsilanti, were each made happy Christmas by the present of a $10 gold. They in turn presented Mr. Post with a bronze lamp. Northfield pays the lowest tax this year that it has paid for many years. Huch credit is due to Supervisor Purtell for nis good management of this township. - South Lyon Excelsior. Ann Arbor wants a $20,000 jai], but Ypsilauti objects, and thinks $10,000 sufficient to house the rascáis of the county. Turn the boot around and what would Ypsilanti say then ?
