A Durand correspondent of the Detroi Post writes as follows under da'e of Jau uary 5: The people of Owosso, it is claimed have paid ïlieir full pledges in aiil of tin Toledo, Aun ArborA Northern Michigan and u'ivi'ii up their claims for the south eustern extensión upon a promise fron the Grand Trunk people that tUe shop. símil be locatcd ut Owosso. The people of Durand are conflileu that the southern liranch of this niai (known hs the Toledo, Aun Arhor & Grand Trunk) will leave the Detroit Grand Hiven & Milwaukee at Durand which will malee this an important poin in the O rand Trunk sysiein, whleli com pany have already advanced $15,000 for the purchase of right of way on this sur vey. It i here stated the work will bc cummenced on thl missing link bctweei here and South Lyon as i-oon as the ground settles the coming sprltijr, kiic pushed to a fpeedy compktion, giving a through connection with Toledo. Their northwe.-tern terminus will eventually be Frankfort, on Lake Michigan. This niay be a gatistactory endlng of this road, but it seems to one noi allöwed to peep Inslde the ring that t would be much more satisfactory to have the road run from South Lyon to Owosso, and there connect with the northi rn extensión, thus opening up the lninber and salt roijions to Aun Artor, Toledo, etc. The benelits to be derived from a connectim at Dmand are hitrd to flnrl.
