The waves Í the waves ! with what fury leap - What sound was that ? The timbfcrs crash ; Christjesus rescue mei II. Men said 'twas a gloomy mansión mine Upon this rock in the sleeping sea ; They pictured a cot with ts climbing vine On the shingly sands. and pitied me. Jut I knew that'a traitor lurked bclow The sleeping wave with its silvcr glow. Was tliat an earthquake's shock t ark, dark the night. and the sea leaps high ; The storm, the storm must awake tlie dead ; The waves clasp hands with the flashing sky; 111 lay me in my quiet bed A nri trust mv I.ivinu Rnrlr
