Thomas Fitzimmons, living on section 3, Ann Arbor town, nenr Northfleld, met with a seiious loss last Mondny afternoon. The engine of a thrcshtr engaged in threshing wheat at lic r place had fired up using ralis for fue]. A spnrk found its wuy to the wheat stack and In an Instant, nearly, it was all abluze. Water happened to be plenty, about twenty mei) were there to use It. and what is wonderful to reléate, the dames were so kept in check that the barn, though only ten or flfteen feet distan t from one of the stacks was saved. It is estimated that about 300 bushels of wheat were destroyed. By using wood in the engine the insurance policy upon the property was vitiated, so had the banu burned not a cent of insuranoe could have been collected. The Washtenaw mutual holds a policy of f330 on one barn, $200 on another, and $750 on personal property, but can not be cal led upon for any loss.
