Gen. Horace Portar will coutribute an antcdotal paper on "Lincoln und Grunt" to the Century. From personal knowledge he describes the official relations of tlie two meo, and thelr private interconrse, iincl relates many new stories. In the sanie nutnber will be printeU a paper by Gen. Adam Badeau on " The Last Days of Gen. Grant," an autlientic account of the last year of Gen. Grant's life, includlng his literary work, etc. A number of portraits and Uustrations will accompuny it. A long story by the late Helen Jackson ("H. II." and "Saxe Holni,") entitled "Popsy's Table Cloths," calis for lirst mention in the October Widc Awake. A comnanion story, "Popyy'i Grand Jour ney, ' will follow in November. Then there is the deüghtful "Story that Mrs. Hildebrand Told," with an equally delightful picture by Bmedtey; a business boy's story, "Pete's Printing Press," by Mrs. Kate Gannett Wells; and a very funny story entitled "The Frying-Pun Bonnet," by Kate Koote. The frontispiece is a group of tliree superb Ocean pictures by W. F. Halsall, the wellknown marine painter, and among other artistic features is a full-pagc picture of a youthful "Robin Hood," by 8t. John Harper, Tennyson's "Enid," by Lnngren, a tour pnge picture bailad, "The Mls8ion Tea-Party," and some irresistible comics. Last, and perhaps most important, is the opening of the Fifth Annual Keading Course of the C. Y. F. H. U., a brilllant set of seríala. "Search Qpfftions in EugUsh Literature," with prizea for answers, by Oscar Kay Adams. üuly $3.00 a year. D. Lothrop & Co., Boston.
